ICON is a decentralized blockchain network focused on interoperability. With ICON’s “blockchain transmission protocol”, independent blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum can connect and transact with each other. This opens up cross-chain use cases that are impossible without an interoperability layer like ICON. ICON Network describes itself as a general-purpose blockchain protocol based on the native cryptocurrency ICX that can run smart contracts, adopt the BFT-DPoS (Delegated Proof-of-Stake) consensus protocol, and use an economic-governance protocol called DPoC (Delegated Proof-of-Contribution). The ICON Network is powered by a proprietary blockchain engine called ‘loopchain’ and has the ability to handle hundreds of transactions per second. The ICON project was started to ensure the integrity and transparency of data shared between institutions and companies, and to move mutual assets on heterogeneous blockchains without a centralized organization. In the long term, ICON Network aims to become an ‘interchain‘ that connects multiple blockchains based on BTP technology. The ICON blockchain is powered by loopchain, a blockchain engine designed by ICONLOOP. ICONLOOP is responsible for loopchain’s government and enterprise adoption in South Korea. Loopchain is the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s standard blockchain platform.

Bitcoin SV – is a new coin splitted of Bitcoin Cash blockchain on 15 November 2018. Four fundamental pillars form the basis of Bitcoin SV’s roadmap to create the one blockchain for the world: stability, scalability, security, and safe instant transactions (a.k.a 0-confirmation). The Bitcoin SV project was created at the request of and sponsored by Antiguan-based CoinGeek Mining, with development work initiated by nChain. The project is also owned by the Antiguan-based bComm Association on behalf of the global BCH (SV) community, and the Bitcoin SV code is made available under the open source MIT license.
Qué tiene de bueno BSV? Estabilidad, escalabilidad, seguridad y transacciones seguras e instantáneas.
“The existing Visa credit card network processes about 15 million internet purchases per day worldwide. Bitcoin can already scale much larger than that with existing hardware for a fraction of the cost. It never really hits a scale ceiling.” – Satoshi Nakamoto (April 2009)
The BSV network will ‘upgrade’ to Quasar and increase the block size from 128 MB to 2 GB on July 24, 2019.
https://preview.redd.it/w6voga5ly2p51.jpg?width=2256&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c08304e64764e01515c379b8d9bcac35f3c7c3f4

https://es.cointelegraph.com/news/craig-wright-must-prove-access-to-11m-btc-fortune-by-april-17

Nueva Lotería y exchange RUTAS A COP llamado: loteriasiempreganas.online

Nueva Lotería y exchange RUTAS A COP llamado: loteriasiempreganas.online
Saludo comunidad rutanio :

https://preview.redd.it/124qp8kp5hr41.png?width=869&format=png&auto=webp&s=ebda6a9ea830508c6fc23523483bb66a8ed03c5e

FUD Copy Pastas

**Last updated: May 30, 2018: Updated wallet info with release of Trinity.
This 4 part series from the IOTA foundation covers most of the technical FUD centered at IOTA.
https://blog.iota.org/official-iota-foundation-response-to-the-digital-currency-initiative-at-the-mit-media-lab-part-1-72434583a2
Also the official IOTA faq on iota.org answers nearly all of these questions if you want to hear the answers directly.
Purpose of Writing
Since posting FUD is so ridiculously low-effort in comparison to setting the record straight, I felt it necessary to put a log of copy-pastas together to balance the scales so its just as easy to answer the FUD as it was to generate it. So next time you hear someone say "IOTA is centralized", you no longer have to take an hour out of your day and spin your wheels with someone who likely had an agenda to begin with. You just copy-paste away and move on.
It's also worth mentioning IOTA devs are too damn busy working on the protocol and doing their job to answer FUD. So I felt a semblance of responsibility.
Here they are. These answers are too my understanding so if you see something that doesn't look right let me know! They are divided into the following categories so if you are interested in a specific aspect of IOTA you can scroll to that section.

IOTA was hacked and users funds were stolen!

First, IOTA was not hacked. The term “hacked” is thrown around way too brazingly nowadays and often used to describe events that weren’t hacks to begin with. Its a symptom of this space growing way too fast creating situations of the blind leading the blind and causing hysteria.
What happened:
Many IOTA users trusted a certain 3rd party website to create their seed for their wallets. This website silently sent copies of all the seeds generated to an email address and waited till it felt it had enough funds, then it took everyones money simultaneously. That was the ”hack”.
https://blog.iota.org/the-secret-to-security-is-secrecy-d32b5b7f25ef
The lesson:
The absolute #1 marketed feature of crypto is that you are your own bank. Of everything that is common knowledge about crypto, this is at the top. But being your own bank means you are responsible for the security of your own funds. There is no safety net or centralized system in place that is going to bail you out.
For those that don’t know (and you really should if you’ve invested in anything crypto), your seed is your username-pw-security question-backup email all rolled into one. Would you trust a no-name 3rd party website to produce your username+pw for your bank account? Because thats essentially what users did.
The fix:
Make your seed offline with the generators in the sidebar or use dice. This is outlined in the “how to generate wallet and seed” directly following.
The trinity and carriota wallets will have seed generators within them upon their release.

How to generate wallet and seed

1) Download official trinity wallet here
2) follow the instructions on the app.
3) Do not run any apps in conjunction with the trinity app. Make sure all other apps are completely closed out on your device.

Are you sure a computer can’t just guess my seed?

An IOTA seed is 81 characters long. There are more IOTA seed combinations than atoms in the universe. All the computers in the world combined would take millions billions of years just to find your randomly generated one that’s located somewhere between the 0th and the 2781st combination. The chance for someone to randomly generate the exact same seed as yours is 1 / (2781).
If you can’t fathom the number 27 ^ 81, this video should help:

No questions or concerns get upvoted, only downvoted!

That’s just the nature of this business. Everyone in these communities has money at stake and are extremely incentivized to keep only positive news at the top of the front page. There is nothing you're going to do about that on this subreddit or any crypto subreddit. It's just a reddit fact of life we have to deal with. Everyone has a downvote and everyone has an upvote. But what can be done is just simply answer the questions even if they are downvoted to hell. Yea most people wont' see the answers or discussion but that one person will. every little bit counts.
I will say that there are most certainly answers to nearly every FUD topic out there. Every single one. A lot of the posts I'm seeing as of late especially since the price spike are rehashed from months ago. They are often not answered not because there isn't an answeexplanation, but because regulars who have the answers simply don't see them (for the reason listed above). I can see how it's easy for this to be interpreted (especially by new users) as there not being an answer or "the FUDsters are on to something" but thats just not the case.

Developer's candidness (aka dev's are assholes!)

Lastly and to no surprise, David conducts himself very professionally in this interview even when asked several tough questions about the coordinator and MIT criticism.

IOTA Devs do not respond appropriately to criticism

When critiquers provide feedback that is ACTUALLY useful to the devs, then sure they'll be glad to hear it. So far not once has an outside dev brought up something that the IOTA devs found useful. Every single time it ends up being something that was already taken into consideration with the design and if the critiquer did an ounce of research they would know that. Thus you often find the IOTA devs dismissing their opinion as FUD and responding with hostility because all their critique is really doing is sending the message to their supporters that they are not supposed to like IOTA anymore.
Nick Johnson was a perfect example of this. The Ethereum community was co-existing [peacefully]with IOTA’s community (as they do with nearly all alt coins) until Nick wrote his infamous article. Then almost overnight Ethereum decided it didn’t like IOTA anymore and we’ve been dealing with that shit since. As of today, add LTC to that list with Charlie’s (even admitting) ignorant judgement of IOTA.
12/17/2017: Add John McAfee (bitcoin cash) and Peter Todd (bitcoin) to the list of public figures who have posted ignorantly on IOTA.

A lot of crypto communities certainly like to hate on IOTA...

IOTA is disrupting the disrupters. It invented a completely new distributed ledger infrastructure (the tangle) that replaces the blockchain and solves all of its fundamental problems (namely fees and scaling). To give you an idea of this significance, 99% of the cryptocurrencies that exist are built on a block chain. These projects have billions of dollars invested into them meaning everyone in their communities are incentivized to see IOTA fail and spread as much FUD about it as possible. This includes well known organizations, public figures, and brands. Everyone commenting in these subreddits and crypto communities have their own personal money at stake and skin in the game. Misinformation campaigns, paid reddit posters, upvote/downvote bots, and corrupt moderators are all very real in this space.

How do I buy IOTA

https://medium.com/@fuo213/how-to-buy-iota-the-complete-guide-for-crypto-dummies-e63560caf921

What is the IOTA foundation?

IOTA foundation is a non-profit established in Germany and recognized by the European Union. Blog post here: https://blog.iota.org/iota-foundation-fb61937c9a7e

How many companies and organizations are interested, partnered or actively using IOTA?

A lot, and often too many to keep up with.
https://reddit.com/Iota/comments/7f3dmx/list_of_known_iota_partnerships_corporate/

How was IOTA distributed?

All IOTAs that will ever exist were sold at the ICO in 2015. There was no % reserved for development. Devs had to buy in with their personal money. Community donated back 5% of all IOTA so the IOTA foundation could be setup.

No inflation schedule? No additional coins? How is this sustainable?

Interestingly enough, IOTA is actually the only crypto that does not run into any problems with a currency cap and deflationaryism. Because there are zero fees, you will always be able to pay for something for exactly what it's worth using IOTA, no matter how small the value. If by chance in the future a single iota grows so large in value that it no longer allows someone to pay for something in fractions of a penny, the foundation would just add decimal points allowing for a tenth or a hundreth or a thousandth of an iota to be transacted with.
To give you some perspective, if a single IOTA equals 1 penny, IOTA would have a 27 trillion dollar market cap (100x that of Bitcoin's today)

IOTA is not for P2P, only for M2M

With the release of the trinity wallet, it's now dead simple for anyone to use IOTA funds for P2P. Try it out.

Companies technically don’t have to use the IOTA token

Yes they do
Worth clarifying that 0 iota data transactions are perfectly fine and are welcomed since they still provide pow for 2 other transactions and help secure the network. In the early stages, these types of transactions will probably be what give us the tps/pow needed to remove the coordinator and allow the network defend 34% attacks organically.
But... if someone does not want to sell or exchange their data for free (0 IOTA transaction), then Dominic is saying that the IOTA token must be used for that or any exchange in value on the network.
This is inherently healthy for the ecosystem since it provides a neutral and non-profit middle ground that all parties/companies can trust. If one company made their own token it wouldn’t be trusted since companies are incentivized by profits and nothing is stopping them from manipulating their token to make them more money. Thus, the IOTA foundation will not partner with anyone who refuses to take this option off the table.

All these companies are going to influence IOTA development!!

These companies have no influence on the development of IOTA. They either choose to use it or they don’t.

Internet of things is cheap and will stay cheap

Internet of things is one application of IOTA and considered by many to be the 4th industrial revolution. Go do some googling. IOTA having zero fees enables M2M for the first time in history. Also, if a crypto can do M2M it sure as shit can do M2P and P2P. M2M is hard mode.

IOTA surpassing speculation

IOTA, through the data marketplace and [qubic](qubic.iota.org), will be the first crypto to surpass speculation and actually be used in the real world for something. From there, it will branch out into other use cases, such as P2P. Or maybe P2P use of IOTA will grow in parallel with M2M, because why not?

Investing in a new project barely off the ground

Investing in a project in its early stages was something typically reserved for wealthy individuals/organizations before ICO’s became a thing. With early investing comes much less hand holding and more responsibility on the user to know what they are doing. If you have a hard time accepting this responsibility, don’t invest and wait for the technology to get easier for you. How many people actually knew how to use and mine bitcoin in 2009 before it had all its gui infrastructure?
IOTA is a tangle, the first of its kind. NOT a copy paste blockchain. As a result wallets and applications for IOTA are the first of their kind and translating the tangle into a nice clean user-friendly blockchain experience for the masses is even more taxing.

Why is the price of my coin falling?!

This may be the most asked question on any crypto subreddit but it's also the easiest to explain. The price typically falls when bad things happen to a coin or media fabricates bad news about a coin and a portion of investors take it seriously. The price increases when good things happen to a coin, such as a new exchange listing or a partnership announced etc.. The one piece that is often forgotten but trumps all these effects is something called "market forces".
Market forces is what happens to your coin when another coin gets a big news hit or a group of other coins get big news hits together. For example, when IOTA data marketplace released, IOTA hit a x5 bull run in a single week. But did you notice all the other alt coins in the red? There are a LOT of traders that are looking at the space as a whole and looking to get in on ANY bull action and will sell their other coins to do so. This effect can also be compounded over a long period of time such as what we witnessed when the bitcoin fork FOMO was going on and alt coins were squeezed continuously to feed it for weeks/months.
These examples really just scratch the surface of market forces but the big takeaway is that your coin or any coin will most certainly fall (or rise) in price at the result of what other coins are doing, with the most well known example being bitcoin’s correlation to every coin on the market. If you don't want to play the market-force game or don't have time for it, then you can never go wrong buying and holding.
It's also important to note that there are layers of investors. There's a top layer of light-stepping investors that are a mixture of day traders and gamblers trying to jump in and jump out to make quick money then look for the next buying (or shorting) opportunity at another coin. There's a middle layer of buyers and holders who did their research, believe in the tech and placing their bets it will win out in the long run. And the bottom layer are the founders and devs that are in it till the bitter end and there to see the vision realized. When a coin goes on a bull run, always expect that any day the top layer is going to pack up and leave to the next coin. But the long game is all about that middle layer. That is the layer that will be giving the bear markets their price-drop resistance. That is why the meme "HODL" is so effective because it very elegantly simplifies this whole concept for the common joe and makes them a part of that middle layer regardless if they understand whats going on or not.

TECHNICAL

How is IOTA free and how does it scale

IOTA is an altruistic system. Proof of work is done in IOTA just like bitcoin. Only a user’s device/phone must do pow for 2 other transactions before issuing one of its own. Therefore no miners and no fees. And the network becomes faster the more transactions are posted. Because of this, spamming the network is encouraged since they provide pow for 2 other transactions and speed up the network.

IOTA is centralized

IOTA is more decentralized than any blockchain crypto that relies on 5 pools of miners, all largely based in China. Furthermore, the coordinator is not a server in the dev’s basement that secretly processes all the transactions. It’s several nodes all around the globe that add milestone transactions to show the direction of the IF’s tangle within the DAG so people don’t accidentally follow a fork from a malicious actor. Anyone with the know-how can fork the tangle right now with a double-spend. But no one would follow their fork because the coordinator reveals which tangle is the legit IF one. If the coordinator wasn’t there (assuming low honest-transaction volume), there would be no way to discern which path to follow especially after the tangle diverges into forks of forks. Once throughout of honest transactions is significant enough, the “honest tangle” will replace the coordinated one and people will know which one to follow simply because it’s the biggest one in the room.
Referencing the coordinator is also optional.
Also, if you research and understand how IOTA intends to work without the coordinator, it’s easier to accept it for now as training wheels. I suggest reading pg 15 and on of the white paper analyzing in great depth how the network will defend different attack scenarios without a coordinator. For the past several months, IOTA foundation has been using St Petersburg college’s super computer to stress test IOTA and learn when they can turn the coordinator off. There will likely be a blog about the results soon.
This is another great read covering double spends on IOTA without a coordinator: www.tangleblog.com/2017/07/10/is-double-spending-possible-with-iota/

At the end of the day, outstanding claims require outstanding evidence and folks approaching IOTA with a “I’ll believe it when I see it” attitude is completely understandable. It’s all about your risk tolerance.

Can IOTA defend double spend attacks?

99% of these “but did they think about double spend attacks?” type questions could just be answered if people went and did their own research. Yes of course they thought about that. That’s like crypto101…

IOTA is not private!

Masked authenticated messages exist right now so data can be transferred privately. Very important for businesses.

Coin privacy

Centralized coin mixer is out that foundation runs. Logs are kept so they can collect data and improve it Folks can copy the coin mixer code and run it themselves. Goal is for mixer to be decentralized and ran by any node.

How do nodes scale? How on earth can all that data be stored?

Full nodes store, update and verify from the last snapshot, which happens roughly every month. Its on the roadmap to make snapshotting automatic and up to each full node’s discretion. With automatic snapshots, each full node will act as a partial perma-node and choose when to snapshot its tangle data. If someone wants to keep their tangle data for several months or even years, they could just choose not to snapshot. Or if they are limited on hard drive space, they could snapshot every week.
Perma-nodes would store the entire history of the tangle from the genesis. These are optional and would likely only be created by companies who wish to sell historical access of the tangle as a service or companies who heavily use the tangle for their own data and want to have quick, convenient access to their data’s history.
Swarm nodes are also in development which will ease the burden on full nodes. https://blog.iota.org/iota-development-roadmap-74741f37ed01

Satoshi Dice and output numbers

Hi, I have some doubts.
Before, for sending bets, the online game Satoshi Dice accepted Bitcoin, but now only Bitcoin Cash.
Seeing the list of the 100 most popular Bitcoin addresses, the first is from Satoshi Dice - with more than 6 million outputs. Within the top 20, a total of 6 addresses corresponding to the Satoshi dice.
Source: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/popular-addresses
What does "most popular addresses by outputs number" mean?
Why does it has so many transactions in BTC, being that just accept BTH?
How can it has so much presence?
Is that blockchain.info listing just blockchain.info wallets?
Greetings and thanks!

13 Months of ADOPTION! -- NANO accepted here! (10)

Hi everyone,
Until May 2018 I posted this on a regular basis since the adoption rate was high. Sometimes we had several new entries per day. Then adoption slowed down and also private work slowed me down.
Also, USE NANO, https://usenano.org appeared and took over some of the work.
usenano.org's listings do not fully match this list and vice versa. Both of us would need to invest some work in order to provide a full list. ;-) -- Both lists together should provide a good overview.
Also: A few weeks ago BrainBlocks reported about 2000 merchants using BrainBlocks. In case they are reading here, please let us know.
This said, I am re-publishing The Reddit NANO Directory
Adoption is crucial! Adoption is king!
ATTENTION: The new Reddit design has screwed up the correct counting in here.
If you switch to the old Reddit design, you will realize, that I am able to count from 1 to over 130.
Dear online merchants,
Please state visibly that you accept NANO and I will be glad to link you here. As a customer I would like to learn about this payment option before having worked my way through to checkout. At the same time this is a great opportunity to advertise NANO as a currency ... on more than 130 sites so far!
Examples: 01, 02, 03, 04.

Will there be another 2017-like crypto pump ever gonna happen again? My rant on the future of crypto, ICOs, and 2018

Background
I've been getting several messages lately inquiring about my old post from which I borrowed $30k to buy ETH back in May: https://np.reddit.com/ethtradecomments/68oshw/just_borrowed_30k_to_buy_eth_stay_tuned_for_the/
I started typing a long response to someone who asked me whether he thinks there's gonna be another opportunity like ETH in the future (from which I made over 100X returns, buying most between $10 and $100, and cashing out 90% at $1000-$1200)...and I realized I typed so much info that it could be worthwhile to share it with the community.
Before I start my rant though... about the loan I had taken out at the time: don't ever invest in more than you're willing to lose.
Opportunities will always come, in one way or another. Today is crypto, yesterday was flipping houses, before that was penny and internet stocks. But from a crypto standpoint, opportunities in this field are gonna be more rare. Bitcoin, ETH, and other large caps coins are probably done for for a while -- they'll go up in the long run but I don't think we'll see another new parabolic rise of 1000+% gains for a long while. People switched to ICOs after seeing some of the 3-10X gains, but the wild west of unregulated ICOs is starting to lose steam, mostly due to regulatory barriers.
Identifying Fundamental Disruptions
I invested in ETH first at $10 and buying all the way up to $100 (the $30k loan got me ETH at $80 each), and while others were selling for 2x flips, I was able to hold it all the way to $1000+. I think this is important to mention in the context of this post because of the necessity to realize the long-term disruption that lays ahead. At the time, I realized that ETH was about to give altcoins/tokens the ability to be speculated on due to their direct utility association in a tech startup's main business mechanism. I firmly believed that ETH should be worth at nearly as much as, if not at least, BTC in market cap because of this. Prior to ETH, it was just Bitcoins and then all clones/shitcoins. ETH gave rise to ICOs and speculative coins that could be assigned potential business value to it, thereby making crypto markets what it is today. Frankly, the entire crypto market owes ETH, and respectfully BTC of course, for what is today. Note though: I rolled the dice big for ETH, but even my $30k investment at the time was only about a quarter of my savings at the time. So again, don't invest in more than you are willing to lose or sleep soundly at night.
The Future: Increasing Regulation
Anyway, turning to the future. Here's what I think is going to happen. SEC is going shutdown alot of ICOs; they are really cracking down on ICOs claiming to be utilities, even if disguised through airdrops or SAFTs. In fact, just today's WSJ news said SEC issued subpoenas to multiple ICOs and have taken interest in SAFTs for so-called utility tokens. Just like the dot-com bubble, 90%+ of these previous ICOs are gonna tank and fail. We're gonna see a massive correction probably later in 2018, when roadmaps with major expected milestones start missing their deadlines, and a domino effect happens when SEC starts really flexing their muscle and forcing exchanges to go into delisting mode (we already are starting to see this with Bittrex).
But a Hidden Opportunity
So about looking for another crypto pump opportunity.... When the culling happens, the survivors are gonna be as follows. Look for US-based ICOs that have been SEC-compliant from the outset, or at least making a strong effort to do so. Having a legal advisor or team member will be big this year. Don't be afraid of lockups or holding periods if it's for the purpose of being SEC compliant (signs are mentions of Reg CF, Reg D, Reg S, and Reg A+ offerings... you could google these keywords with their company name to see if they have a filing record in SEC's database). See if these ICOs and team leaders had a successful and profitable business in the past, or at least spun out of a profitable company. Also, there's way too much bullshit with partnerships, many which are fake or with useless no/name companies. Next, a lot of these open ecosystem platforms rely on partner companies to attract customers -- but why would companies join when there are no customers, and vice versa. It's all bullshit and often pump and dump shilling. What you want is a closed ecosystem (think Apple iOS) to help consumers navigate the business model. An open ecosystem where customers have to attach their own crypto wallet, blah blah blah, yay decentralization, yeah... well that's all never gonna see mass adoption (think Linux... some hardcore advocates exist, but what layperson actually wants to operate command lines or deep menus all day long and accidentally break their system with one wrong syntax). Look how successful Coinbase has become by simplifying crap. Too much shit is focused on the crypto side and it's like a foreign language to mainstream customers who won't touch it with a ten foot pole. Look for ICOs that are consumer focused rather just have solely an ICO page. It's particularly appealing if they have a self-directing strategy in the form of a tangible product they can sell to generate data or transactions in their ecosystem, which would naturally attract additional customers/companies into their platform.
Examples:
These companies with revolutionary ideas, who are making an effort to be legally compliant and also have a tangible product, are the ones that are gonna survive the mass culling of alts and ICOs later this year. If we ever get our first ICO unicorn (from revenue, not pumped market cap of their token), then it will bring truly mainstream recognition of the crypto markets that will give the traditional stock markets a serious run for their money. I'm not talking about less than 1% of the $70 trillion stock market value of the world -- I'm talking like double digit levels of the entire global stock market. And I bet you it will happen. This is the sorting-out phase of the future -- a shift from old world Wall Street-type money to Silicon Valley. Crypto allows direct investments into technology startups, and tokenization of the actual business transaction mechanism cuts down all the traditional valuation crap dealing with public relations and whatever meta valuation factors. If the business is making sales, then the token is worth something, and that's all that matters. If the business is losing sales, then the token is worth less. Straightforward.
When All The Puzzle Pieces Fit Together
Two more things to note. First: If ETH successfully pulls off scaling through sharding/raiden and drastically reduces gas fees through proof of stake, then it will be fit for enterprise use. ETH's stress tested blockchain with upgrades will facilitate real world adoption (Most of these ERC20 platforms are currently not fit for real adoption due to high gas fees and low TPS). Otherwise, consider hedging into alternative smart contract-, high volume-, low cost-capable platforms with implementation documentation (e.g., Stellar) to potentially get some good gains. Second: A lot of these current crypto exchanges are not registered ATS's (alternative trading systems) that are permitted to trade securities by the SEC, so they can only trade utilities. But SEC is cracking down on these fake-utilities and are deeming them all securities... that's gonna leave these exchanges in the dust. So we're seeing big companies entering this space, Overstock building tZero, Circle/Goldman Sachs acquiring Polo, Cobinhood, etc. They are prepping for ATS compliance, and when legal tokenized securities become tradeable, they will be traded on these platforms... not hot messes like Binance. And they will be user friendly -- gateways for mainstream to invest directly in the tokenized assets of a company's core business model. It's all culminating to the survival of legit companies, mainstream adoption, and these are your clues. Enjoy trading shitcoins while they last, but don't get caught with your pants down bagholding them.
Rant over.
TL;DR Look for coins based on fundamentals and legal compliance so they will survive the massive culling in late 2018 when roadmaps don't meet milestone deadlines

Analysis on Sia (the network and coin) after doing a bit of research [Fairly long post]

Before I start, I want to say that I might not have all my information correct so please correct me if I am wrong and I will edit post, also I dont own any siacoin (...yet?). I wont make an introductory post about what Sia is, please check their website or youtube videos to get the basic idea ... its decentralized cloud storage basically.
1- Sia really is not for your average person who has a bit of disk space and wants to make a little money on the side. A lot of this has to do with the way news spreads around community, not from the developers. Average person who glosses over the abstract or a summary article hears about it and goes "great I have a 500 gb hdd and I dont use about 200 gb, why not make a little money off it?" That is wrong, you are essentially running a mini cloud server. The reason cloud storage companies charge 20 dollars for 1 TB space is because of the challenges of running a system 24/7 and always accessible. While im not saying this validates their pricing, I am letting you know this is what Sia is essentially competing against.
2 - Everyone should read the Host scoring system
https://siawiki.tech/host/scoring_system
That page is incredibly important to understand if you want to get involved as either a host or customer or investor. As a host, the higher score you have, the higher the price you can charge as well as get assigned disk space to be used (essentially the system is more likely to pick you to host files, which is your income in this case). Key takeaways I thought were important.
1 - 4 TB minimum: this goes back to the point about the average user not being able to use their little disk space to make money. You will be penalized if you host space less than 4 TB.
2 - If you dont plan on keeping your computer running > 90% of the time, dont even bother considering hosting(right now atleast, will address this later). You will get a 50% penalty to your score, your uptime goes even lower and your penalty is incredibly steep you will make absolutely no money.
3 - Initial investment cost as first 30 days to prove that you are a trust worthy host. There is a score penalty till 41 days of being a host.
3 - Price volatility and fixed contract length
Right now you have to get into a 3 month contract at minimum.(correct me if im wrong). This means during this you are rolling the dice when it comes to cost and profits. This level of instability will always be a crutch of the system when compared to traditional storage solutions who use more stable regular fiat. For example, if you got in a contract in April or May of this year, the average price you were locked in at was 4500 siacoin per TB for 3 months. During this time, you made the most profit you would ever make as a host, but after that your profits fell dramatically (in proportion to before, not total profit which was very less to begin with)when your contract ended as the market rate at the end of your contract was probably between 700 - 200 Siacoin per TB. You could argue that the buyer of the space missed out as well, but I think this is a common misconception as people think they are also the investors which is not always the case. It doesn't matter to a space buyer if the price shoots up because they had already bought the coin at that low price and locked it into a contract. Now if they were also a big user of the system who was constantly buying space everyday, yes this would affect them. The link below is very important and it is where i got the pricing info from.
https://siahub.info/network
4 - Currently there just is not that much demand for the space, its not a host market (not necessarily a bad thing right now)
If you look at the network storage graph on siahub link from above, on average in the month of august, there was on average 3300 TB worth of storage space on the network and on average 70 TB demand for space. Thats only around 2 percent of the space being used. This means the system is currently running smooth as butter, but it has not been tested when there is a big demand surge and I really want to see how it can handle even 10- 15% and what problems arise. Reason I think its not a bad thing is because it dramatically cuts cost to buy space for adopters.
5 - It has the same growing pains as a lot of other blockchain based projects
This is a problem most coins and projects have right now such as ease of use, wallet problems, file upload/download problems, file loss.
6 - There is no cap to how much siacoin there will be
This is one of the reasons I look at this less like bitcoin as a currency or investment, but as just a tool in a closed ecosystem required to secure data thats not centrally located.
3 major upcoming improvements to keep your eyes on
https://trello.com/b/Io1dDyuI/sia-public-roadmap
This is the sia roadmap for future changes and while there are a lot, 3 main things should spike your interest.
1 - Next 6 months: proper support for small files by reducing minimum file size from 40 MB to 100 KB. This is absolutely huge imo. While a casual user might not be able to be a host, they can be a buyer. Most files people use are just not that big. Pictures and songs are a few MB. Small work files such as word, excel, powerpoint will be able to be backed up easily.
2 - Ability to recover your files only using recovery seed. Now you can carry your wealth in your head wherever you go by just memorizing your BTC wallet seed, in the next 18 months you will be able to do the same with all your files, doesn't matter where you are in the world. This is huge for journalists, protesters, human rights advocates, people who just generally live in more heavily censored parts of the world.
3 - Increased customization/parameters for choosing host in next 6 months. (price vs performance) I like this because it helps with lowering cost with long term storage as well as helps lower the barrier to entry for being a host. Maybe I access files once a year, uptime doesnt matter to me in this case. I could potentially go for an ultra low cost host who has low uptime then.
The decentralization/privacy aspect of this is unmatched regardless
This is the major aspect of why I wouldnt write Sia off immediately, even with all their problems. Their adoption rate is really low right now, but long term it is going to be interesting to see how it does 10 years from now as more and more people are starting to realize how important privacy is and how intrusive these companies are with their data in order to track everything you do.
Would love to hear your thoughts people. Let me know if I made any errors.

The crypto casino trend is fast becoming an established contender in the world of online casinos as the use of cryptocurrency becomes more and more mainstream.
At Play our core belief in everything we do is that gaming should be fun and enjoyed responsibly. Implementing provably fair in the near future is a high priority for us, as we want our customers to have that extra peace of mind when enjoying the games on our platform. We want our users to come to our platform and have a wide variety of games and activities that they can launch straight into with their tokens.
Whether you want to invest in house profits, gamble, play non-casino games, play with friends in multiplayer, simply mine RWD, or trade on Play Market, we hope Play has something to offer everyone!
Reward mining progresses through rounds and gradually gets more difficult as time goes on. If the user chooses to burn their RWD, they receive a share of the daily reward pool, which is a collection of all house profits on the platform automatically distributed to the users based on their proportionate share of the total pool every 24 hours.
Users holding RWD tokens get a share of 50% of the Play Markets TRX profits, and PLAY holders get airdrops of RWD daily for holding increments of a million PLAY in their wallet. Further use cases will be developed as the platform continues to grow. We are always looking for ways to further benefit our users and our eco system is constantly evolving.
Play with your favorite Crypto Currency
Users can play games with PLAY, TRX, IGG, LVH and more, with BTC, ETH and EOS coming in the very near future. Mining Reward (RWD) is another central aspect to this platform that will bring longevity and exciting rewards to our users for years to come.
PLAY.GOC.NETWORK offers traditional table games like Blackjack, Roulette, Bacarrat and Texas Hold’em. Play casino also offers slot games, dice games and Plinko. Start playing today to earn your fair share of multiple shares of TRC20 tokens on the Tron Blockchain with bitcoin gambling coming soon!
The market offers even more flexibility for Play GOC users. As a lighting fast, reliable and smooth exchange of exceptional quality, we offer and unrivaled trading experience for multiple tokens. Play GOC & Play Market will be expanded in the future to have cross-chain capability and support for dozens of coins/tokens.
Play Casino is licensed and regulated with terms and conditions that govern the crypto gambling space for your added security and peace of mind in a space where many come and go in a matter of weeks.
Play Crypto Casino Online Advantages
One of the main advantages is that by buying PLAY tokens in increments of 1M you qualify for the daily RWD airdrop so in essence it is possible to “be the house” and earn a share of daily profits by burning these in the daily party, or if you prefer to hold them you will earn your share of 50% of the Play Markets profits. So many ways to earn!
As we run off-chain we have our depositing and withdrawing system, which will enable us to grow beyond the Tron ecosphere in the very near future.
The crypto casino boom will be a massive change in the online gaming industry soon. The advantage to playing with crypto rather than using your credit card is that the payment process is significantly faster, and you are completely safe when you don't need to leave your credentials online. It is important not to share your private keys with anyone, these must always be kept secure.
New games and features are added regularly to diversify the portfolio of readily available games.
Anonymous play on the block-chain is one of the aspects many find desirable, as it removes the need to spend time performing KYC which is required when playing online with fiat currencies the mainstream casinos offer.
